As tourists continue to look for cheaper tourist destinations, places that were previously not tourist destinations are predicted to become popular. Here are some recommendations reported by CNBC.
Tartu – Estonia, Europe

A prominent location in Europe is Tartu, Estonia. According to National Geographic, Estonians consider the city to be the cultural and intellectual heart of the country.
Tartu itself is 110 miles from Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. Tartu is home to the country's oldest university, designated as a UNESCO City of Literature and selected as one of the European Capitals of Culture in 2024.
Austin – Texas, United States

Texas stands out among the list because in 2024, people in Texas will be able to witness the total solar eclipse that occurs on April 8. Additionally, the city of Austin, was voted the fastest growing millionaire city in the United States, according to the Henley and Partner 2023 wealth report. According to the report, the city of Austin experienced a 102 percent growth rate in millionaires from 2012 to 2022.
Sierra Leone, West Africa

According to National Geographic, Sierra Leone is a country to watch in 2024. The international airport in Freetown underwent major renovations in 2023 and many roads were also upgraded. The report states that tourism is growing rapidly in West Africa.
Sikkim – India, Asia

This area offers visitors the opportunity to go trekking and see many mountains. More than a quarter of Sikkim, India, is protected by Khangchendzonga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Victoria – Australia

Although Australia is famous for its beaches, Victoria has a rich history of hot springs high in minerals. The report highlights the Great Victoria Bathing Trail, which links hot springs and sea baths along a 560-mile road trip through the megacity of Melbourne as the city's main attraction.
