Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia has successfully tested a new-generation nuclear-powered missile.
RIA Novosti news agency quoting Putin explains that the Burevestnik missile test has a nuclear propulsion system and can reach any corner of the world.
The Burevestnik missile development program was introduced by Putin in March 2018 as part of a broader initiative to develop a new generation of intercontinental and hypersonic missiles. Among them was the “Kinzhal” ballistic missile.
Putin told the Federal Assembly in March 2018 that the goal was to ensure a strategic balance in the world for decades to come, including the Burevestnik and Sarmat missiles.
