Indonesian National Team Manager Endri Erawan emphasized that currently there are no additional naturalized players. However, he confirmed that his party would finalize the players who had been previously projected.
Indonesian National Team coach Shin Tae-yong previously said that there would be additional naturalized players in June 2024. This addition was made to make the Garuda Squad stronger.
But Endri said there was no latest news regarding the players who would be projected to become additional naturalized players. However, currently only Maarten Paes remains whose naturalization stage has not been completed.
“Oh no, there's no information yet. But maybe according to STY there is still something incomplete in the team regarding its formation. Possibly, we're still waiting for Maarten Paes too, right? Paes isn't official yet, right, because there are still problems at the CAS (Arbitration Court) “Sports), to be able to join Indonesia. Maybe that's what Shin Tae-yong was talking about,” said Endri.
Endri said that of course Maarten Paes' naturalization process is expected to be completed soon. This is so that the player can immediately defend the Indonesian National Team.
“We hope that we can play in June. We hope that we can play in June. But not yet, we don't know when (Maarten Paes),” he said.
On June 6 2024, the Indonesian national team will face Iraq in the Group F phase of the second round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asian zone. The match will be played at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Jakarta.
