“This syndrome is a phenomenon that is widely known, especially among the oldest girls who often have to deal with the impact of this syndrome on their identity and relationships within the family,” said Sanam.
First daughter syndrome goes viral on the internet
Many netizens also feel that they have first daughter syndrome, Bunda. They also shared their experiences on TikTok social media.
“I'm the first daughter, of course, I helped raise my brothers, but my parents didn't admit it,” said one person on TikTok.
“I'm the oldest child, of course I'm the perfectionist type with a 5 am routine,” said another netizen.
“I'm an older sister, of course my mother always asks me to bring diapers and wet wipes,” said another netizen.
A study published in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology explains that researchers observed that the first female child may be affected by this syndrome. They may feel prenatal stress in very specific ways.
The first daughter develops early and has enough maturity and will eventually help in raising the child.
