RED SEA – The Russian Pacific Fleet is part of the Russian Navy based in Vladivostok, Russian Far East.
They consist of a variety of naval vessels, submarines, and aircraft that ensure maritime security, conduct joint exercises, and maintain readiness for potential missions.
A detachment of Pacific Fleet warships has crossed the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and entered the Red Sea as part of a long voyage, according to a statement by the Russian Pacific Fleet.
“A detachment of Pacific Fleet warships, including the missile cruiser Varyag and the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, has crossed the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait and entered the Red Sea,” Russian authorities said.
Earlier in March, the missile cruiser Varyag and the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov held the joint international naval exercise Sea Security Belt-2024 with Iranian and Chinese naval vessels.
This week, Pacific Fleet ships conducted anti-piracy and unmanned ship destruction drills in the Gulf of Aden in the Arabian Sea.
Russia's Pacific Fleet has various types of warships, including aircraft carriers, destroyers, submarines, surface warships, and other support vessels.
These ships are equipped with modern weapons systems, including cruise missiles, surface-to-air missiles and anti-ship weapons.
Not only that, the Russian Pacific Fleet has several nuclear submarines, which are equipped with ballistic missiles and nuclear cruise missiles.
Nuclear submarines are a very important asset in Russia's nuclear defense strategy.
The Pacific Fleet has the capability to project power far at sea, both in combat operations and peacekeeping operations. This allows Russia to maintain a military presence in strategic areas in the Pacific.
