The Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul duel could be canceled if the heavyweight boxing legend fails the age test. This discourse arose because Iron Mike had to undergo a series of medical tests to ensure that this fight was truly feasible.
The boxing world was shocked by the news that Tyson agreed to duel against Paul at AT&T Stadium, July 20 2024. However, the fight has not been 100 percent confirmed.
Maybe the Tyson versus Paul fight could be held as an exhibition duel rather than a professional fight. It all depends on the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), which will conduct tests on Tyson.
With a track record of nine wins and one defeat, Paul is still pursuing his dream of becoming world champion. He has taken the bravest step yet by agreeing to face a former heavyweight boxer dubbed the cruelest man on the planet.
There have been many reports regarding the age difference between the two. Tyson, 57, or 30 years older than Paul. Therefore, before the fight took place in Texas, Tyson had to complete rigorous tests, as this could jeopardize the fight.
Tyson will need to submit the results of an electroencephalogram (EEG) and electrocardiogram (ECG), which prove he is fit enough to fight. TDLR says boxers over 36 must pass heart and brain tests to fight.
According to the TDLR's aggressive sports Regulations it states that: “A person 36 years of age or older applying for a contestant's license must submit a favorable report of physical testing conducted within the previous 12 months, including but not limited to EEG (electroencephalography) and EKG (electrocardiogram).”
Since the fight will take place a month after Tyson turns 58, he is certain to exceed the threshold set at 36 years old. This means he has to submit the EEG and EKG results to TDLR to be able to enter the ring.
