WASHINGTON – The sentiment of citizens of the United States (US) has changed significantly towards Israel's actions in the war in Gaza.
As many as 55% disapprove of Israel's actions, compared with 36% who approve, according to the results of a new poll.
According to the Gallup poll, which shows the results of surveys conducted March 1 to 20, approval ratings have plummeted since November 2023.
During that period, 50% of Americans approved of Israel's military actions in Gaza and 45% disapproved.
Since the October 7 Hamas-led attack on southern Israel and the subsequent war in Gaza, more than 90% of Gaza's 2.3 million residents have been displaced.
Israel has killed more than 32,000 people in Gaza, most of whom are women and children.
According to Gallup, 74% of Americans say they follow Israeli-Palestinian war news closely, similar to the 72% the company measured in November.
Of those who approved of Israel's actions, 43% said they were following the news “very closely.”
As for those who disapprove of Israel's actions, 55% said they were following the news “very closely.”
