The Benefits of the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul Duel are Fantastic, British Journalist: The Spectator Was Robbed!
The controversial Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul duel is said to be just a setup to make big profits. However, exactly how much profit did the exhibition duel generate?
The Mirror's chief sports editor, Andy Dunn, believes that the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul duel is just a play that has been arranged and is only being staged to make a profit from broadcasting rights. The British journalist said that this duel was no different from Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Conor McGregor in 2017, which rocked the sport of boxing.
In an opinion column published in the Mirror, Thursday (28/3/2024), Andy Dunn sharply wrote that Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Conor Mcgregor seven years ago had succeeded in tricking all the spectators who came to Las Vegas to make millions of dollars. With the same method, said Dunn, the Mike Tyson vs Jake Paul duel was held this year.
“Jake Paul will fight boxing legend Mike Tyson in a Netflix special on July 20, 2024 in Texas, at the headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys, and both will receive millions of dollars from viewers eager to see if Tyson at 58 is still as threatening as he once was, ” said Andy Dunn.
“But for us there, the two men had the undeniable aura of partners who had just managed to rob (the audience, ed) of 200 million pounds (around Rp. 4 trillion. And that's because that's how it was. More, maybe.”
Furthermore, Andy Dunn said that there were quite a lot of deceived people who paid money to watch Mayweather Jr vs Mcgregor in 2017, either in Las Vegas or via pay-per-view broadcasts, then thought that the money-oriented duel was a real sport.
“But millions of people do. And millions of people will do the same thing when Jake Paul and Mike Tyson step into the ring on July 20 this year,” he said.
