MADRID – Jorge Lorenzo believes Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) will get his first victory in the 2024 Spanish MotoGP. The former MotoGP star predicts that Acosta will perform optimally in that race.
Pedro Acosta stole attention after performing brilliantly in the first two races of MotoGP 2024. The 19 year old racer was able to finish in 9th position at MotoGP Qatar 2024, and got the third podium at MotoGP Portugal 2024.
It is believed that his good performance will continue in the following racing series. Acosta is also predicted to be the successor to the six-time MotoGP champion from Spain, Marc Marquez in the future.
Lorenzo was also amazed to see Acosta's performance in the first two races of the 2024 MotoGP. The three-time world champion believes that Acosta will soon get his first victory in the 2024 Spanish MotoGP which will be held on April 28.
“I saw him (Pedro Acosta) win at Jerez (2024 Spanish MotoGP), in a sprint or long distance race. “Then rain, damage or collisions can happen, but if there is a race that can be won, it is Jerez,” said Lorenzo, quoted from Corsedimoto, Thursday (28/3/2024).
“He will arrive there a little more prepared, the KTM GASGAS performed very well on that track and I think he can get a good chance,” he continued.
However, Lorenzo has several suggestions before the racer aims for his first victory. Lorenzo said Acosta had to pay attention to the initial speed and the braking device, which he said was not yet stable.
“We know that you are a phenomenon and you have huge potential, but I will give you some homework,” Lorenzo said.
“I think you need to improve your (race) starts. Additionally, I noticed some chattering noises when entering corners, which I assumed was caused by the bike. Upon entry, with engine braking, I noticed slightly excessive rear slip in certain braking situations. I don't know if you will agree with me,” he added.
Acosta agrees with the advice given by the former veteran racer. The racer who was born in 2004 said that there is a lot to pay attention to in terms of motorbike performance and electronic components for braking.
“Maybe it's true that we braked the engine too much. “There are several things we need to improve,” said Acosta.
Meanwhile, Pedro Acosta will next appear in the 2024 United States MotoGP. The race will take place at the Circuit of The Americas, Texas, United States on April 14 2024.
