JAKARTA – Grab Indonesia is in the spotlight. This is a matter of alleged acts of extortion and violence committed by GrabCar drivers. Netizens accused Grab Indonesia of being slow to react, not being a solution or being transparent in dealing with this situation.
This incident began on Monday (25/3/2024), as told by the victim's colleague who used the account @antum_bit. Initially, the victim, a woman, used GrabCar services from Neo Soho Podomoro City.
According to @antum_bit, even though the victim was already in the car, the driver did not press the “Pick Up” button on the application. However, the driver remained
carry out orders.
The victim was suspicious of the driver's behavior. Sure enough, when he entered the toll road, the driver threatened the victim to transfer Rp. 100 million.
However, even on the toll road, @antum_bit said that the car was running slowly. As a result, the victim got down and ran. “My friend ran away, but was caught by this driver/kidnapper. “Then my friend was dragged and gagged,” he wrote.
The victim was also threatened with being thrown into the river if he screamed. Then, when the driver got into the car again, the victim managed to get out again and asked one of the drivers who was loading and unloading goods for help.
“The driver had told the witness that they were husband and wife, but my friend was 'lying' and the local residents kept shouting at him so the GrabCar driver immediately ran away,”.
As a result, the victim suffered bruises on his knees, hands, lumps and scratched lips. It's just that the driver (kidnapper) took the cellphone.
@antum_bit regrets the slow response from Grab Indonesia, including claims from Grab Customer Service that the victim's cellphone was only left in the car despite it being said to have been confiscated.
As a result, scolding netizens immediately raided the @GrabID account and questioned their reaction to this very serious incident.
