Elyas Pical is known as an Indonesian boxing legend who has achieved many achievements. However, most people still don't know the details of the achievements that make this boxer from Saparua so flashy that he is considered a legend.
In terms of match statistics, Ellyas Pical has recorded 20 wins, with 11 of them being knockouts, and only experienced 5 defeats and one draw. This record may not be comparable to Chris John's 48 wins from the 52 matches he has played.
Even so, there are still a number of achievements that have made this boxer, who was born on March 24, 1960, the title of boxing legend, and it could even be said that it is difficult for other boxers to compete with the achievements he has achieved.
3 Achievements of Ellyas Pical that are difficult for other Indonesian boxers to match
1. First Indonesian boxer to win the title of world champion
It could be said that this achievement will not be equaled by other Indonesian boxers. This achievement is what makes Ellyas Pical known as one of Indonesia's legendary boxers.
After starting a professional career in 1989, Pical immediately proved that he was worthy of being one of the tough fighters in the ring by winning the OPBF championship from the hands of a boxer from South Korea, Hi-yung Chung in 1984.
With this victory, Pical became the first Indonesian professional boxer to win an international title abroad.
2. Successfully won the IBF Junior Bantamweight Champion title
It didn't stop there, Pical also succeeded in winning the IBF Junior Bantamweight title on May 3 1985. This title was obtained after defeating a boxer from Ginseng Country, Ju Do Chun.
Until now, Ellyas Pical has just won the IBF Junior Bantamweight championship belt in Indonesia and no other boxer has been able to win the title.
However, this is an achievement that could be achieved by other Indonesian boxers in the junior bantamweight class, even though it is not easy to achieve it.
3. Defend IBF Flyweight Title
Pical is recorded as having defended the IBF Flyweight title from 1987 to 1989. At that time he took the title from the hands of South Korean boxer, Chang Tae-il.
Unfortunately, The Exocet had to lose the IBF Flyweight title in October 1989, after losing to a boxer from Colombia, Juan Polo Perez.
After that, he decided to return to the ring until he finally decided to retire in 2000.
These are a number of Ellyas Pical's titles and achievements that are difficult for other Indonesian boxers to match. Even though his name was tarnished due to a drug case he experienced in 2005, Pical is still part of Indonesian boxing history.
