Jonatan Christie emphasized that he doesn't want to be burdened with the 2024 All England championship stamp. All he can do now is play his best game.
Jonathan emerged as the 2024 All England champion after beating Anthony Sinisuka Ginting in two straight games 21-15, 21-14 at the Utilita Arena, Sunday (17/3/2024). This is Jojo's first title in a Super 1000 level tournament.
Jojo said he was very happy to be able to present an additional All England title to Indonesia. He admitted that he was actually not too concerned with winning because the All Indonesian Finals were created in the final match of All England 2024.
“After yesterday confirming all the Indonesian finals, I am enjoying it even more because whoever wins, the important thing is Indonesia. From just making history, I am very happy,” said Jonathan, quoted from the official PBSI release, Monday (18/3/2024).
Furthermore, Jonathan believes this title makes fans want more for the next tournament. However, Jojo said he was ready to bear high expectations and give his best for the next time.
“After this, many people will definitely have higher expectations, but I can only do the best I can do,” said the badminton player from Jakarta.
Meanwhile, Anthony and Jonathan will be absent from the next tournament, the Swiss Open and the 2024 Spain Masters. Most likely, the two men's singles badminton players will return to action at the Thomas Cup in April 2024.
