The United Press International (UPI) news agency reported that no equipment damage was reported while Flight 433 was in the air after leaving San Francisco International Airport, yesterday.
The plane was carrying 139 passengers and six crew members before landing at Rogue Valley International Airport in Medford at around 11:30 a.m. (local time).
“The pilot's examination showed that a panel connecting the bottom of the fuselage to the rear wing was missing,” United Airlines said in a press release.
Airline officials said there were no signs of damage during the flight, and no emergency was declared by the crew.
“We will carry out a thorough inspection of the aircraft and carry out all necessary repairs before returning to service. “We will also investigate to better understand how this damage occurred,” the statement added.
Several mechanical problems involving Boeing aircraft have occurred recently, including a door flap dislodging incident involving an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-9 MAX aircraft on January 5.
