The Indonesian Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) has imposed sanctions on a number of cosmetic products found not to comply with distribution regulations. Sanctions in the form of revocation of distribution permits were given to at least four cosmetics whose advertisements contained elements of eroticism.
“The four cosmetic products do not comply with applicable regulatory requirements because the advertising visuals displayed clearly deviate from the purpose and usefulness of cosmetics,” explained BPOM RI Deputy for Supervision of Traditional Medicines, Health Supplements and Cosmetics, Mohamad Kashuri, in a press release Thursday ( 3/14/2024).
The list of cosmetic distribution permits that will be revoked based on monitoring until January 2024 includes:
Potens Special Gel for Man (notification number NA18230104521, owner of notification number Botryo Herba Biotechnology); Hanimun Gentle Gel (notification number NA18210112280, owner of notification number Tritunggal Sinarjaya); Cocomaxx Gel Massage Gel (notification number NA 18210102363, owner of notification number Tritunggal Sinarjaya); Geltama Gentle Gel (notification number NA 18230100410, owner of notification number Tritunggal Sinarjaya).
Products in circulation can be found in online stalls. BPOM RI asked the Indonesian E-Commerce Association (idEA) to participate in monitoring the distribution and promotion of cosmetic products in online media.
