Indra Sjafri explained his reasons for not calling Amar Rayhan Brkic on the list of 37 names to take part in the U-20 Indonesian National Team training camp (TC). This training camp is part of preparations to face China U-20 in a friendly match on 22 and 25 March 2024.
The Indonesian-German cross-breed player was not included even though he had experience playing for the Indonesian U-17 National Team in the U-17 World Cup. Indra revealed the reason for choosing not to call Amar.
The coach from Batang Kapas, West Sumatra admitted that he didn't need a player like Amar. Indra gave the Hoffenheim U-17 player the opportunity to develop first.

“Yes, because we don't need it yet. We think we will give him (Amar Brkic) more development at the club. OK. If that's the case then the results of our communication with club coaches outside him will be OK,” said Indra.
Indra also revealed that it was not easy to call young players to the U-20 Indonesian National Team. Because the players are still at school and have their own activities.
“And it's also not easy to call players aged 20 years and under. Because besides that, they have to go to school and so on,” explained Indra.
