ORLEANS – Indonesian mixed doubles, Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, managed to beat the Danish duo, Mads Vestergaard/Christine Busch, in the semifinals of the 2024 Orleans Masters. They won in two straight games with a score of 21-11 and 22-20 in 35 minutes.
With these results, Rinov/Pitha advanced to the top match of the Super 300 tournament. Next, they will meet the winner of the match between the seventh seeds, Hoo Pang Ron/Cheng Su Yin, from Malaysia and representatives from China, Cheng Xing/Zhang Chi.
Playing at the Palais des Sports, Orleans, France, Saturday (16/3/2024) afternoon WIB, Rinov/Pitha faced stiff resistance from Vestergaard/Busch since the match started. The two pairs chased each other for points until they reached a score of 4-4.
After that, the Red-White Team pair could develop their game and launch deadly attacks. As a result, they were able to walk away with a lead of 8-5 and 11-7 in the first game interval.
Ripith -Rinov/Pitha's nickname – continued to launch variations of sharp smashes and horizontal balls and succeeded in making it difficult for the opponent. As a result, they easily widened their lead to 16-10 and then closed the first game with a score of 21-11.
A fierce battle at a fast tempo occurred again at the start of the second game. The two pairs took turns taking the lead and were seen chasing the numbers until they reached a score of 7-7.
Continuing to press, Rinov/Pitha were again able to take the lead at 10-7. However, this time Vestergaard/Busch were able to recover quickly and equalize the score at 10-10 even though they then fell behind 10-11 in the second game interval.
After the break, Ripith was again able to take control of the game and widened the gap to lead 17-12. However, Vestergaard/Busch tried to get closer again at 14-17 and were even able to take the lead 20-19.
Luckily, Rinov/Pitha were able to play very calmly at critical points so they were able to equalize the score at 20-20. They then succeeded in securing victory in the second game with a score of 22-20.
