Suara.com – The city of San Carlos in the Philippines has implemented a controversial measure to improve motorbike safety by banning the use of full-face helmets. This decision has sparked debate among the public and safety experts.
Instead, local governments have mandated the use of open helmets.
According to a Visordown report, the local government of San Carlos has imposed a ban on the use of full-face helmets for motorcyclists to prevent crimes committed by individuals who use them to hide their identity.
This decision has raised concerns for the safety of motorcyclists living or traveling through the city.

Mayor Renato Gustilo signed the Executive Order last weekend. The mayor stated that a ban on full-face helmets was enforced within the city limits. However, outside the City of San Carlos, wearing a full face helmet is mandatory.
Checkpoints were set up to enforce this order. Law enforcers manning checkpoints require all motorcyclists and pillion riders to remove their helmets, hats or masks.
These checkpoints are set up in areas that have been determined in accordance with the order issued by Gustilo.
San Carlos has introduced a new speed limit of 40 km/h (25 mph) within the city, in addition to a ban on full-face motorcycle helmets.
