SHEFFIELD – Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta indicated that he would rotate his squad in the pursuit of the 2023/2024 Premier League title. Arteta said the busy match agenda was the reason behind player rotation.
Arsenal just beat Sheffield United 6-0 in Week 27 of the 2023-2024 Premier League. The Gunners – Arsenal's nickname – achieved this sweet victory at Bramall Lane, Sheffield, England on Tuesday (5/3/2024) early morning WIB.
Now, Arsenal is in third place in the 2023-2024 Premier League standings. Mikel Arteta's troops are only two points away from the current standings leaders, Liverpool, who have collected 63 points.
In second place, there is Manchester City, which is one point different from Liverpool. Interestingly, the two teams will face each other in Week 28 at Anfield, Liverpool, England on March 10 2024.
Arsenal itself will meet Brentford in the same week. The Gunners can certainly use this momentum to continue to stick to or acquire the top of the standings.
Moreover, several Arsenal players who were previously injured are slowly recovering ahead of the match. Nevertheless, Arteta said he was happy with the main squad which had won seven consecutive matches in the Premier League this year.
“We believe that today was the best choice, at least to start the match. “We have a long period after Newcastle, nine days, we have time,” said Arteta as quoted from Arsenal's official website, Tuesday (5/3/2024).
However, Arteta also indicated that he was ready to rotate his squad if necessary in order to chase the Premier League title. Names such as Thomas Partey, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Jurrien Timber and Oleksandr Zinchenko may be played again by Arteta.
“Now it will be very different in the next three days, we have another game, and then Porto (Champions League) so we have to manage everyone's minutes,” hinted Arteta.
