Mariano Roman, the recently appointed President of Confindustria ANCMA, is satisfied with this situation and underlines that these gains overcome the combined effect of the announcement and the expiration of incentives for the purchase of vehicles with internal combustion engines last month has caused the market to grow again structurally, in an organic way.
“The data for February 2023, which are already positive, represent a very significant result and once again tell us how two-wheeled vehicles, for the sake of passion and mobility, have taken a very relevant role,” he explained.
“This is why we hope to meet with the Government soon to discuss several requests and steps, which will strategically allow us to strengthen the leading sector,” said Mariano Roman.
Market volume in the second month of this year grew by one fifth (+19.89 percent) compared to February 2023, reaching 28,401 units.
The performance of scooters was very brilliant, with the number of registered vehicles reaching 13,924 vehicles, equivalent to growth of 23.05 percent.
Followed by motorbikes which grew 17.5 percent with a registered number of 13,241 units.
After three consecutive months of negative signals, the motorbike sector also returned positive by recording an increase of +11.96 percent and selling 1,236 units.
Specifically for the electric motorbike market, there was a decline of 16.86 percent compared to February 2023, although this condition has improved due to government incentives – compared to -58.87 percent in January.
In the second month of this year, the zero-emission vehicle market reached 700 units. In particular, electric scooters lost a fifth of their volume (-20.15 percent) and only marketed 420 vehicles.
