FBI agents searched the home of a senior political adviser to Mayor Eric Adams early Thursday, local television station News 12 reported.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, which typically does not speak publicly about ongoing investigations, did not respond to questions about the raid by dozens of agents of Councilwoman Winnie Greco's home in the Bronx.
In November, the Federal Bureau of Investigation seized the mayor's electronics and raided the home of Mr. Adams' 2021 campaign fundraiser.
The FBI is conducting a criminal investigation into allegations that Mr. Adams' campaign team conspired with a Brooklyn construction company and the Turkish government to secure illegal street donations, the New York Times reports.
Ms Greco could not be reached for comment and it is not clear whether she has a lawyer. According to the municipality, she has been on leave since Thursday.
She has worked with the mayor and has been volunteering for many years. She has run fundraising campaigns in the past and currently serves as the mayor's advisor on Asian affairs.
A statement released by the mayor's spokesman reiterated earlier statements that no charges had been filed against Mr. Adams. No one has been charged federally in connection with the mayoral campaign fundraiser.
“Our administration will always respect the law and we expect all our employees to adhere to the strictest ethical guidelines,” the statement said. “As we have stated before, we do not comment on matters that are under review, but we will fully cooperate with any ongoing process.”
The FBI also searched two other properties on Thursday, including a second home belonging to Ms. Greco, the New York Times reported, citing unnamed officials.
