Suara.com – Cyber security company Kaspersky assesses that Apple's iOS operating system has not been proven safe enough from the threat of cyber attacks carried out by hackers.
Based on Kaspersky's findings in June 2023, they discovered a mobile Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) campaign when monitoring the network traffic of their company's Wi-Fi network using KUMA.
Upon further analysis, company researchers discovered that cyber threat actors had targeted iOS devices belonging to dozens of company employees, distributed zero-click exploits via iMessage to run malware, and gained complete control over devices and user data.
Kaspersky Indonesia Territory Manager, Dony Koesmandarin, revealed that the findings indicate that currently there is no safe operating system.
“It's just a matter of time,” said Dony when answering the question whether Apple's iOS iPhone was safe or not, Tuesday (27/2/2024).
He also explained that cyber attacks are now increasingly using new, more sophisticated tactics. Therefore, it is very important for business people to use systems that can monitor network activity, such as security information and incident management.
Meanwhile, General Manager for Southeast Asia at Kaspersky, Yeo Siang Tiong, stated that even the most secure operating system can still be compromised.
The reason is that perpetrators continue to develop their attack tactics and look for new weaknesses that can be exploited.
“Businesses must prioritize the security of their systems. This involves providing the latest tools for employees and technical teams to effectively recognize and defend against potential threats as well as timely remediation of incidents,” he explained.
For your information, Apple claims that iOS is the most secure operating system in the world. The reason is, this operating system does not allow users to install random applications that are not in the official application store, the App Store.
Unlike iOS, Android, which is an operating system made by Google, still allows sideloading. So users can still install applications from outside the official application store, where these applications are considered dangerous because they are not directly selected by Google.
