JAKARTA – There are several tools that can be used to see the new moon, both traditional and modern. In Indonesia, when determining 1 Ramadan and 1 Shawwal, the government uses this method as the basis for its determination.

Traditional Tools:

Sundial: This tool helps determine the time by using the sun's shadow.
Stick: This tool is used to help observers look towards the west more comfortably.
Modern Tools:
Telescope: This tool has a lens that is larger and stronger than binoculars, so it can see the crescent moon more clearly.
