Suara.com – A number of city transport (angkot) 03 drivers on the Pulo Gadung-Tanjung Priok route went on strike. This was done to protest the new Transjakarta Pulo Gadung route to the East Newsdelivers.com Mayor's Office.
The drivers took action by parking their public transportation in one lane of the road in front of the Sukapura Village office on Friday (23/2/2024). This action then circulated on social media.
Not only that, they also intercepted Transjakarta buses on the new route so they would not pass through that route.
Responding to this, PT Trans-Newsdelivers.com Operations and Safety Director Daud Joseph explained that this route was not a new route because it had previously been used by Metromini number T41. After being inactive for a long time, the route was finally taken over by Transjakarta to be operated from Thursday (22/2).
“Previously, this route had a lot of passengers. So now residents really need transportation services according to the Minimum Service Standards set by the DKI Newsdelivers.com Provincial Government,” said Daud when confirmed.
Regarding protests from public transportation drivers, Daud admitted that he would coordinate first to follow up on this matter. He also said that the route was created to improve services for residents and was implemented based on applicable laws and regulations.
“Regarding objections from other transportation, we will coordinate with the Transportation Service as the authority,” he said.
Furthermore, he also hopes that public transportation drivers can understand this and even work together to provide safe and comfortable public transportation services for the community.
“In my opinion, the two services continuing to serve side by side will be better, complementing each other. In the end, the people who benefit are the citizens because they have several public transportation options,” he concluded.
