Suara.com – The General Election Commission (KPU) has allowed a number of areas that are difficult to access to carry out follow-up voting beyond the deadline.
In fact, according to election law, repeat, follow-up and follow-up voting should be held no later than 10 days from the voting or February 24 2024.
“The deadline is 10 days after voting day. “However, there will be several areas that will experience lex specialis due to late logistics delivery transportation,” said KPU member Idham Holik at his office, Central Newsdelivers.com, Friday (23/2/2024).
Idham explained that this special treatment was given to a number of areas that varied in contour or geography, such as supplementary voting at 92 polling stations in Paniai, Central Papua. The same thing happened for the follow-up vote in Simeulue, Aceh.
“We know that flights to Central Papua have to transit in Jayapura, then fly. Then, there is still folding (ballot paper) sorting activities. This takes time,” said Idham.
Idham explained that the logistics for the follow-up election in Simeulue are currently still in Banda Aceh. To reach Simeulue, a cruise of at least 12 hours is required.
For this reason, the follow-up vote there will most likely only be held on February 25 2024.
“The logistics are already there, not to mention the packaging time needed,” said Idham.
