Suara.com – Special management of plastic waste that involves community participation is crucial considering the serious environmental impact of plastic waste. This company does this with a special program to exchange waste to be able to get a free driving license (SIM) for deaf online drivers. How do you do it?
Innovative management of plastic waste is very important to overcome current environmental problems. According to the National Institutes of Health page, there are three important reasons why plastic waste management is important.

First, plastic is difficult to decompose and can pollute soil and water. By involving the community in the management system, we can create awareness of the importance of sorting plastic waste for recycling, reducing environmental pollution.
Not only that, plastic becomes a source of greenhouse gas emissions when it decomposes, contributing to global climate change. Special management through a participatory approach can help reduce the use of single-use plastics, encourage the use of environmentally friendly products, and support innovation for more sustainable plastic management.
Finally, resource sustainability can be improved by recycling plastic. Communities that are actively involved in the recycling process can create a circular economy, reduce the need for new raw materials, and reduce pressure on the environment.
Not only the community, plastic waste management also needs support from the private sector. The development of a buyback and recycling system by companies, for example, could be an innovative step. Companies can provide financial incentives to consumers who return their plastic packaging to the place of purchase.
By implementing this system, companies not only take responsibility for the life cycle of their products, but also motivate consumers to actively participate in recycling efforts.

This is the reason for commemorating National Waste Awareness Day 2024, PT. Chandra Asri Pacific Tbk (Chandra Asri Group) together with Kitaoneus.asia organized a unique program. As many as 50 deaf online drivers got the opportunity to get a free driver's license by exchanging the plastic waste they collected.
The plastic waste is managed by the Chandra Asri Group's Integrated Waste Management Industry – Kelola Mandiri (IPST ASARI), converted into pyrolysis oil called PLUSRI which is beneficial for fishermen on Pangaradan Beach.
Chandra Asri Group's Head of Corporate Communications, Chrysanthi Tarigan, revealed that this program not only supports diversity but also provides opportunities for deaf online drivers to get a driver's license and increase independence in finding work.
“This initiative not only provides an opportunity for individuals with special needs to be involved in environmental conservation efforts, but also opens the door for deaf online drivers so that they can get facilities and gain access to work,” he explained.
