Suara.com – The Central Management of the Indonesian Basketball Association (Perbasi) is focused on developing potential young Indonesian basketball players with a posture above 180 cm who will be trained in Lithuania for six months.
Perbasi is holding a basketball talent search in a number of cities in Indonesia with a minimum height requirement of 180 cm.
“What you need to pay attention to is that this scouting is not for forming a National Team. “This scouting is to look for potential players with a minimum height of 180 cm who will then be sent to train in Lithuania,” said the General Chair of Perbasi, Danny Kosasih, as published by Antara, Monday (19/2/2024).
During the Indonesia Patriots talent search in DKI Newsdelivers.com, as many as 60 participants took part with a height of 180 cm to 190 cm. A total of six participants are between 190 cm and 195 cm tall, and two players are above 195 cm tall.
Perbasi then did the same thing in Makassar City, Tangerang, reaching a total of 11 regions in Indonesia.
Danny hopes that from the search for basketball talent in 11 regions, it is hoped that 100 players with a minimum height of 180 cm will be obtained. They will then be gathered in Surabaya to be selected directly by a coach from Lithuania on March 4 to 6 2024.
From the direct selection by this coach from Lithuania, it is hoped that 15 potential players will be obtained. They will then be flown to Lithuania to train for approximately 6 months.
“All costs while in Lithuania are borne by PP Perbasi. “Even during the selection in Surabaya, the 100 selected participants received free accommodation facilities,” said Danny.
From the talent search in these 11 regions, 100 players will be announced in early March, ahead of the selection of 100 players with a minimum height of 180 cm in Surabaya.
“For players whose height is under 180 cm, the opportunity to become a basketball player is not closed. They can try their luck when PP Perbasi holds a selection to form a National Team. “Nearby, we will prepare the national team to face SEABA and the U-18 Asian Cup,” said Danny.
