Suara.com – Secretary General of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Saifullah Yusuf alias Gus Ipul invited the National Awakening Party (PKB) to return to the same fold and path as Nahdlatul Ulama (NU).
“Return to the right path, namely the path that is in accordance with Nahdlatul Ulama,” said Gus Ipul in his written statement, Sunday (18/2/2024).
The nephew of KH Abdurrahman Wahid alias Gus Dur reminded that as a party that has always claimed to be a member of NU, PKB should immediately return to NU and be able to accept whatever the election results are.
“PBNU has accepted and let us all respect the election results. “If PKB claims to be the NU party, let's work together with PBNU to cool the atmosphere,” he said.
The former deputy governor of East Java said this was not the first time PKB had taken part in an election, so PKB definitely knew that the quick count was accurate.
He also reminded them to report immediately if there is a problem. However, Gus Ipul also reminded that PKB must participate in maintaining the coolness of this democratic process.
According to him, the elections are over so there is no longer any need to drag out the process.
Gus Ipul, who also served as Secretary General of PKB in the 2000s, said that PBNU had also stated that the presidential election went well and smoothly.
“(PKB) asked Rais Aam and the General Chairperson (PBNU) for advice on PKB's future steps. “If we realize that this party was founded by NU, it would be appropriate for PKB to return to NU,” he said.
Gus Ipul further revealed that the PKB was still trusted by NU residents, but the PKB's decision to support the presidential candidate was far from the expectations of the ulama.
Gus Ipul emphasized that PBNU has never been hostile to PKB. It's just that PBNU regrets the political steps of the PKB elite who never listen to what the ulama and kiai say.
“PKB took the wrong path, giving rise to steps that confused ulama and kiai, and also confused NU members. You can see the results of this election. “So, immediately return to NU's fold,” he said.
