JAKARTA – Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that scientists in his country are now closer to producing a vaccine that is claimed to be able to treat cancer.
As reported by the Daily Mail, Friday (16/2/2024), he made this statement via television broadcast explaining that drugs to improve the immune system of the new generation were almost produced.
“I hope that in the near future, this method can be used effectively as a method of individual therapy,” he said while speaking at the future technology forum, in Moscow.
However, Putin did not specify the types of cancer that could be treated with the vaccine.
So far, several countries and companies are trying to produce cancer vaccines.
Last year, the British government signed an agreement with Germany-based company BioNTech to conduct clinical trials of cancer treatments.
Pharmaceutical companies, Moderna and Merck & Co are also developing cancer vaccines which are in the research stage to reduce the risk of death from melanoma, which is skin cancer.
