Suara.com – Prabowo Subianto's advancement as a presidential candidate in 2024 has brought his love story with Titiek Soeharto into the spotlight. Especially after the video circulated of Titiek Soeharto discussing the possibility of reconciliation.
In a viral video, Titiek Soeharto neither denied nor confirmed the news of reconciliation. Suharto's fourth daughter only said that her relationship with Prabowo was always well maintained.
“There's no need to reconcile, we have a good relationship. There's never been any disputes or anything. It's not like what is said in infotainment that if someone gets divorced they have to have differences or make a fuss,” said Titiek Soeharto during an interview with Aiman Witjaksono, quoted on Thursday (15 /2/2024).
“We never fight. We always have one voice. I have children, we raise my children together and we always communicate. People never fight, so there is no such thing as reconciliation,” he continued.
Apart from Titiek Soeharto's confession, what was the real reason for her divorce from Prabowo Subianto?
Titiek Soeharto is known to have married Prabowo in 1983. From this marriage, they were blessed with a child who was named Ragowo Hediprasetyo Djojohadikusumo or Didit Hediprasetyo.
Unfortunately, Prabowo and Titiek Soeharto's household only lasted 15 years. Various sources say that Prabowo and his ex-wife separated in 1998.
The story of Titiek's divorce was discussed in the book “Traces of Resistance Begawan Pejuang” written by Prabowo's father, Sumitro Djojohadikusumo.

Reportedly it all started in 1995 when Sumitro and Suharto's family relations began to grow apart. At that time, Sumitro often criticized the policies made by Suharto.
One of the criticisms made by Sumitro that made Suharto angry was regarding the alleged leak of development funds of 30 percent. The heated relationship between Sumitro and Suharto finally spread to the family realm.
When Suharto stepped down in May 1998, the Cendana family even accused Prabowo of being involved in the action. At that time Prabowo served as Commander of the Army Strategic Command (Pangkostrad) and was considered to have an important role in anticipating mass unrest.
The Cendana family took issue with Prabowo's attitude, who was accused of allowing students to control the MPR/DPR building. Prabowo responded to this accusation by saying that if he had been there, he should have shot at the students.
It was then announced that Prabowo was divorcing Titiek at the same time as this political turmoil. However, until now it is not known for certain the real reason the two decided to separate.
