LONDON – Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min admits that he is still disappointed with South Korea's results in the 2023 Asian Cup. Even though it is painful, he has found a way to treat this disappointment.
Tottenham Hotspur managed to achieve a 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion in the 24th match of the 2023/2024 Premier League. The match took place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Saturday (10/2/2024).
The Lilywhites – Tottenham Hotspur's nickname – had to fall behind first, after Pascal Gross's penalty kick in the 17th minute could not be anticipated by Guglielmo Vicario. However, Tottenham Hotspur was able to turn things around through Pepe Matar Saar in the 61st minute and Brennan Johnson 90+6.
Meanwhile, Son Heung-min is still disappointed to discuss the results of the 2023 Asian Cup. However, he admits that returning to play with Tottenham Hotspur is a cure for the failure to bring South Korea to the Asian Cup title.
“It's not fun talking about this tournament anymore. “It's really painful, but the way to cure it is to play football again to make me smile again,” said Son Heung-min, quoted from Tribal Football, Tuesday (13/2/2024).
The 31 year old striker appeared from the bench and appeared for 28 minutes and contributed assists. Son Heung-min also admitted that he wanted to help The Lilywhites to get good results again, so he didn't want to rest too long after appearing in the 2023 Asian Cup.
“Of course, I came back very quickly to help the team. I wanted to be part of the team and we achieved a good result (against Brighton),” he said.
Son Heung-min was absent from Tottenham Hotspur for five matches while defending South Korea. However, he failed to bring his country to the championship after being stopped by Jordan with a score of 0-2 in the semifinals.
