Suara.com – The Election Supervisory Agency or Bawaslu RI mapped vulnerable polling places (TPS) in the 2024 Election. The mapping was carried out to anticipate all kinds of potential disturbances that might occur on voting day or voting on February 14 2024.
Chairman of Bawaslu RI Rahmat Bagja said the vulnerability mapping was carried out on 7 variables and 22 indicators taken from 36,136 sub-districts/villages in 33 provinces except the New Autonomous Region or DOB Papua and North Maluku. The implementation will last for six days from 3 to 8 February 2024.

“As a result, there are 7 indicators of vulnerable TPS that occur the most, 14 indicators that occur a lot, and 1 indicator that does not occur much, but still needs to be anticipated,” said Bagja to journalists, Sunday (11/2/2024).

Seven Most Common Indicators of Vulnerable TPS
125,224 TPS contained DPT voters who no longer met the requirements; 119,796 TPS where there are Additional Voters (DPTb); 38,595 TPS where there are KPPS who are voters outside the domicile of the TPS where they work; 36,236 TPS where there are internet network problems at the TPS location; 21,947 TPS which are near the post/house of the campaign team participating in the election; 18,656 TPS where there is a potential Special Voter List (DPK); and10. 794 TPS in disaster-prone areas (floods, landslides and/or earthquakes).
Fourteen Indicators of Prone TPS that Occur a Lot
8,099 There are problems with electricity at TPS locations; 4,862 TPS are near educational institutions where students have the potential to have the right to vote; 4,211 TPS are difficult to reach; 3,875 There is a practice of giving money or goods during campaign periods and quiet periods around TPS locations; 2,299 TPS that have a history of this happening violence at TPS; 2,209 Have a history of intimidation of election organizers; 2,021 TPS near work areas (mining and/or factories); 1,989 Have a history of shortages or excesses and even no logistics available at the time of the election/voting; 1,587 TPS have a history of delays in distribution at TPS (maximum H-1) at the time of the Election/Election; 1,582 TPS that had a history of damage to voting logistics/equipment during the Election/Election; 1,396 TPS that had a history of cases of ballot papers being mixed up at the time of the Election/Election; 1,205 TPS that were ASN, TNI /Polri, village heads and/or village officials carry out actions/activities that benefit or harm election participants; 1,184 polling stations in special locations; and 1,031 polling stations where KPPS members campaigned for election participants;
One Indicator of Prone TPS That Happens a Lot

“The number of vulnerable TPS mapped above does not include the New Autonomous Region (DOB) in the Papua and North Maluku regions. This condition is caused by limited internet networks when sending data,” explained Bagja.

According to Bagja, the results of the mapping of vulnerable polling stations will be used as material for Bawaslu, the KPU, election participants, the government, law enforcement officials, observers, the media and the entire community to provide mitigation so that the voting process can run smoothly and democratically.
Apart from that, Bawaslu, he said, will also carry out prevention strategies in the form of; supervisory patrols in vulnerable polling station areas, coordination and consolidation with relevant stakeholders, socialization and political education to the community, collaboration with election observers and participatory supervisors, and providing public complaint posts at every level that can be accessed by the public.
“Bawaslu also carries out direct supervision to ensure the availability of election logistics at polling stations, the implementation of voting and vote counting in accordance with regulations, the accuracy of voter data and the use of voting rights,” he concluded.
