Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia Hot Rivalry Seventh Fight/Instagram Kingryan
Devin Haney vs Ryan Garcia is the seventh heated rivalry fight for both boxers after agreeing to an agreement when the date and location were announced. After various discussions, these two old rivals appear to be renewing their rivalry.
Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia have agreed to a major fight deal – in what will be the seventh fight between them. The two amateur rivals have squared off six times in unpaid amateur matches and turned professional at 3-3.
And according to ESPN, they have finalized terms to renew their rivalry on April 20 in Las Vegas. Haney previously held the undisputed lightweight title at 61.2 kilograms before moving to super lightweight.
And he won his first gold belt in the 63.5 kg class last December by beating Regis Prograis, 35, in 12 dominant rounds. Haney, 25, will put his title on the line against Garcia, also 25, who will challenge for his first world title.
Garcia – who has more than 10 million followers on Instagram – fought twice last year. In April, he was stopped in seven rounds by longtime rival Gervonta Davis, 29, in a fight believed to have sold 1.2 million pairs.
Garcia bounced back from his first loss by knocking out Oscar Duarte, 28, in eight rounds in his comeback fight. He called out former sparring partner and WBA champion Rolando Romero after his win.
But when talks stalled, Garcia turned his attention to Haney and joined boxing legend Floyd Mayweather. Garcia admitted Mayweather convinced him to return to targeting Romero, sparking confusion among the camp. But Romero, 29, instead signed a contract to face Isaac Cruz, 25, on March 30 for his Amazon Prime boxing PPV debut. So Garcia went full circle and negotiations were back underway with Haney – with an announcement imminent.
