Suara.com – For almost three decades operating in Indonesia, Epson, a leading printing and visual technology company, has emphasized its commitment to contributing to sustainable development in accordance with the United Nations (UN) goals for Sustainable Development (SDGs).
With three companies in Indonesia, namely PT Epson Batam, PT Indonesia Epson Industry, and PT Epson Indonesia, Epson has become a leader in providing innovative products such as printers, projectors, scanners, and robot solutions. Through its business, Epson specifically supports several pillars of the SDGs, including economic growth, innovation, responsible production, addressing climate change, and partnerships.
One of Epson's important contributions to Indonesia's economic growth is its contribution to electronics exports, which has reached around 15% of the total value of Indonesian electronics exports. Epson has also been active in supporting the development of domestic components (TKDN) to improve the quality of technological production and be able to develop domestically.
However, Epson is not only focused on economic growth alone. They have created decent jobs for thousands of local workers, strengthening the economic and social fabric of local communities.
Outside of its business operations, Epson has also gone far in corporate social responsibility (CSR) by initiating various programs, one of the CSR activities that Epson recently carried out to support the climate change pillar of the SDGs was planting 6,000 trees in various regions of the country. , a project that Epson intends to carry out until 2027. This tree planting program can help absorb carbon emissions, which are the biggest cause of climate change.
In 2023, Epson Indonesia will successfully complete the tree planting program in three different cities. In an effort to support environmental sustainability, Epson Indonesia has planted a total of 2300 trees in Kerawang City with 1000 trees, in Cibis Nine – Newsdelivers.com with 25 trees, and in Banjarmasin with 1000 trees.
Apart from that, PT Indonesia Epson Industry also planted trees in the forests of South Kalimantan with a land area of 300 hectares. This action not only reflects Epson's concern for the environment, but also contributes positively to improving air quality, making Epson a company that cares about sustainability and a green future.
By initiating programs to overcome climate change through tree planting, Epson Indonesia hopes to mobilize local residents to take part in maintaining and continuing environmental conservation programs independently. Still within the SDGs pillar related to climate change, Epson Indonesia also continually evaluates its production processes to reduce negative impacts on the environment.
The welfare of a society is also determined by the quality of its human resources, which are built through education. Therefore, Epson Indonesia also supports the education pillar of sustainable development goals through the Epson Goes to School program. In 2023, through EGTS, Epson Indonesia is donating technological equipment and facilities in the form of 64 L3216 printers and 128 ink sets for 64 schools throughout the archipelago, especially those that have the most difficulty in accessing technological facilities, both due to geographic location and budget limitations. Through this program, Epson Indonesia hopes to improve the quality of the teaching and learning process through technological tools, as well as help the students of these schools to become more technologically literate, an ability that can support their education and careers in the future.
Then, Epson Indonesia also completes corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs which are carried out with charity activities, one of which is Ramadan with Epson. In this activity, Epson distributed basic food package donations to approximately 15 orphanages in five cities throughout Indonesia. This activity aims to support the daily activities of orphanage children so that they can continue to optimize their potential.
By complementing its business activities through environmental conservation, education and charity activities, Epson Indonesia seeks to achieve a balance between economic growth and sustainable development goals in the countries where it operates.
