Suara.com – Voting day for the simultaneous General Election (Pemilu) will soon take place on February 14 2024. If you are outside your registered domicile on that date and still want to exercise your right to vote for the 2024 Election at another polling station, try to arrange to move to vote .
As reported on the official Instagram page of @KPU_RI, the General Election Commission (KPU) still provides the opportunity to extend the time to move voting locations (TPS) before voting day takes place.
Deadline for TPS Transfer Arrangements
Arranging to move TPS can still be done until D-7 of the Election. The following is the deadline for extending the TPS move as given by the KPU.
Day, date: Wednesday, February 7 2024 Time: 23.59 local time
This means, tomorrow (7/2) is the last day to arrange to move to vote at another polling station.
This provision is based on the decision of the Constitutional Court (MK) Number 20/PUU-XVII/2019 regarding several categories of voters being given a deadline to change their voting location no later than seven days before voting day begins.
Requirements for Moving Polling Stations for the 2024 Election
Voters who have registered with the DPT can still move TPS as long as they fulfill several conditions such as the following:
Having assignments elsewhere on voting day. Being inpatient or assisting inpatients. Being hit by a natural disaster. Being a prisoner in a detention center or in a correctional institution, or as a convict who is serving a sentence in prison or confinement. As a person with disabilities. with disabilities who are undergoing treatment in a social institution or rehabilitation center. Are currently undergoing drug rehabilitation. There are assignments to study/undertake secondary or higher education. Already in a domicile. Currently working outside of their domicile. Currently in certain circumstances outside of the provisions above which are in accordance with statutory regulations.
How to Move Polling Stations for the 2024 Election
As reported on the KPU website, voters who are already registered on the Permanent Voter List (DPT) can have their votes or TPS postponed for the 2024 Election. If their location does not match the electronic KTP address, you can apply for a postponement. Since these provisions have been stipulated in KPU Regulation Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Compilation of Voter Lists in General Elections and the Implementation of Voter Data Information Systems.
To exercise their right to vote at the destination TPS, voters registered in the DPT must report to the PPS, PPK, or Regency/City KPU of their place of origin or destination no later than 7 days before the voting date.
However, before applying for TPS migration, please verify that your state actually meets the applicable requirements. Apart from that, first check the DPT status on the cekdptonline.kpu.go.id page. Then continue to take care of it in the following way:
Prepare documents such as electronic KTP and Family Card (KK). Attach a copy of Model A Form “Certification of DPT Registration as a Voter” to your home polling station. Please go directly to the Voting Committee (PPS), District Election Committee (PPK), or Regency KPU /City. Please bring proof of the reason for your move (for example, if it is work, please bring your work order). The KPU will map which TPS is closer to the destination (included in the Additional Voter List or DPTb). The KPU provides proof to voters in the form of form A-voter transfer letter.
So, is it possible to move the polling stations? The answer is of course it is still possible, as long as voters are willing to move their polling stations within the specified time limit so that they can exercise their right to vote at that polling station on voting day.
