Suara.com – The Jordan National Team secured a ticket to the 2023 Asian Cup semifinals after winning a tight match against the Tajikistan National Team. Jordan narrowly won 1-0 in the quarter-final match which was held at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, Al Rayyan, Qatar, Friday (2/2/2024) evening WIB.
The only goal in this match came from an suicide by Uzbekistan player, Vakhdat Khanonov in the 66th minute.
The match itself was tight with both teams almost evenly matched in terms of statistics. Both teams had the same number of shots on target, namely 2.

Tajikistan only has a slight lead in attempted shots, 12 to 10, and also narrow ball control, namely 51 percent to 49 percent.
With this result, Jordan has qualified for the semifinals and will face the winner of the other quarter-final match which will also be played tonight between Australia vs Bahrain. The semifinal match will be played on February 6 at the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium.
Jordan itself was able to advance far in the Qatar Asian Cup even though it actually only qualified through one of the best third places in the last group phase from Group E.
This is the first time that this Middle Eastern country has been able to break into the top four at the Asian Cup stage.
On the other hand, Tajikistan must end their 'fairy tale' in order to advance further in the 2023 Asian Cup after appearing with debutant status at Asia's biggest football event.

At the Ahmed bin Ali Stadium, Jordan broke the deadlock in the 66th minute to take a 1-0 lead over Tajikistan. Jordan's goal was created through the suicide of defender Vakhdat Khanonov.
The own goal started from Mahmoud Al Mardi's corner kick from the right side. Defender Abdallah Nasib tried to head the ball. Unfortunately for Tajikistan, the ball hit Hanonov's body and changed direction into his own goal.
