NEBRASKA – Former tennis star, Andy Roddick, described Aryna Sabalenka as the most consistent tennis player in the world right now after the women's singles champion won the 2024 Australian Open last weekend. According to him, Sabalenka now has the right to call herself the best tennis player in the world today.
Sabalenka managed to become the 2024 Australian Open champion after beating China's representative, Zheng Qinwen, in straight sets in the final with a score of 6-3 and 6-2. As a result, he successfully defended his title at Melbourne Park after winning his first Grand Slam there last year.

Even more amazingly, the tennis player from Belarus appeared very dominant throughout his performance at the 2024 Australian Open. He never lost a set in the seven matches he played.
With these results, the 25-year-old has now reached the semifinals or better in his last six Grand Slam tournaments since the 2022 United States Open. This record also made her the most consistent WTA player in the biggest tennis tournament in the world.
Therefore, Roddick believes that Sabalenka has the right to judge that he is the best tennis player in the world today. Moreover, he was able to recover from his slump two years ago where his performance declined due to service problems which made him doubt his own abilities.
“You love seeing progress and hard work rewarded. “The most impressive thing is that 15 months ago he was faced with serve yips and there were questions about his mentality and confidence in his own game,” said Roddick as quoted by Tennis365, Thursday (1/2/2024).
“His physical attributes were there from the start, so thanks to him for addressing those issues, because it's comprehensive. “I hope it's as satisfying as others have found it,” he added.
“He's now reached the semifinals or better in the last six major tournaments, and I don't know if any of us were fools who looked at him two years ago and said that he would be the most consistent player in the world. “He has the right to think that he is the best player in the world at the moment,” he concluded.
Sabalenka's success at the 2024 Australian Open itself is inversely proportional to what was achieved by world number one tennis player and her rival, Iga Swiatek. The player with a Polish passport fell in the third round after losing to the Czech representative, Linda Noskova, with a score of 6-3, 3-6 and 4-6.
