WELLINGTON – New Zealand is an island country located in the South Pacific Ocean. This country has an area of around 268,000 square kilometers and a population of around 5 million people.
The country is known to be friendly and has no enemies. However, in recent years, New Zealand has increased its military strength to face various security challenges in the Pacific region.
According to the Global Firepower Index 2023, New Zealand is ranked 66th out of 142 countries in the world.
These rankings are based on various factors, including the number of military personnel, weaponry, defense budget, and geographic capabilities.
In general, New Zealand's military strength is small and modest. The number of active personnel is only around 10,000 people, and the fleet consists of only a few warships and fighter planes.
However, the New Zealand Defense Force has the capability to conduct defense and humanitarian operations.
The New Zealand Defense Force (NZDF) consists of three branches: Navy, Army and Air Force.
The total number of NZDF personnel is approximately 15,000, including 10,000 active personnel and 5,000 reserve personnel.

The New Zealand Navy maintains a fleet consisting of two frigates, two patrol ships and one minesweeper.
Not only that, the New Zealand Navy also has two submarines rented from Australia.
