CAIRO – A group of archaeologists announced that they had identified the tombs of three members of Alexander the Great's family in the city of Vergina, Greece.

These tombs were discovered in 1977, but the identity of their occupants is not known for certain until now.
As reported by IFL Science, Thursday (23/1/2024), the first grave contained the remains of a man aged around 50 years.
This man is about 1.75 meters tall and has strong bones. His identity is believed to be Philip II, father of Alexander the Great. Philip II was king of Macedonia from 359 to 336 BC.
He was a capable general and intelligent ruler. He expanded Macedonian territory and prepared Alexander to conquer the world.
The second grave contained the remains of a man around 30 years old. This man is about 1.80 meters tall and has strong bones. His identity is believed to be Arrhidaios, brother of Alexander the Great.
Arrhidaios was a weak and sickly man. He never played an active role in the Macedonian government.
The third grave contained the remains of a boy around 12 years old. This boy is about 1.60 meters tall and has strong bones.
His identity is believed to be Alexander IV, son of Alexander the Great. Alexander IV was the son of Alexander the Great by Roxane, an Iranian princess.
