Jose Mourinho has reportedly rejected an offer from Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab. The coach nicknamed The Special One reportedly wants to review the situation first before making a decision.
Mourinho is currently still unemployed after being fired by AS Roma. The 60 year old coach was kicked out of the club after a series of negative performances for I Giallorossi – AS Roma's nickname.
This attitude, which often causes controversy, is also considered to be the reason why The Special One was fired. However, Mourinho was immediately rumored to be with several clubs after parting ways with AS Roma.
Mourinho is reportedly of interest to the Saudi Arabian club, Al-Shabab, which is currently coached by Igor Biscan. According to the Goal International report, negotiations between Mourinho and Al-Shabab have actually taken place. However, The Special One reportedly rejected the offer.
“Mourinho is 'waiting for an option that motivates him' and chose not to join the club just yet,” wrote the Goal International report, Monday (22/1/2024).
However, Mourinho has stated that he is interested in a career in Saudi Arabia. The former Real Madrid coach said he was curious about the development of football there.
“I will go to Saudi Arabia if I have free time, but I am sure I will work there. I don't know when, but I am quite sure. The door is always open for me in Saudi Arabia. I want to experience the development there,” said Mourinho in October 2023.
Meanwhile, it is currently widely rumored that Mourinho will replace Walter Mazzarri at Napoli. On the other hand, over the weekend, The Special One was seen in Barcelona, Spain for unknown reasons.
