TEL AVIV – A report from the United States (US) intelligence agency revealed that Israeli troops were only able to eliminate 20 to 30 percent of Hamas troops since the war broke out in Gaza on October 7.
This figure shows that the war of the Zionist forces is still far from being won, where the government and their military aim to eliminate the Palestinian resistance group and repatriate all the hostages.
This report was published by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Sunday (21/1/2024).
The WSJ, citing Israeli estimates, reported that Hamas’ strength numbered around 30,000 before the war. Last week, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claimed that 9,000 of that number had been killed—a claim Hamas dismissed, insisting that the majority of those killed in the brutal Zionist invasion were civilians.
According to the WSJ report, although most of Gaza was destroyed, a new American intelligence assessment shows the Hamas group is still far from being destroyed.
Hamas’ tactics have changed since the start of the war, with the group focusing its guerrilla warfare on small groups and hiding behind traps they set for IDF soldiers.
According to US estimates, Hamas has enough ammunition and weapons to allow them to continue attacking the IDF in Gaza for months.
Additionally, a classified US report shows evidence that in an effort to restore its control, Hamas is rebuilding its police force in Gaza City.
Furthermore, the US estimates that around 10,500 to 11,700 Gaza militiamen have been injured and will soon be ready to fight again.
The IDF reported slightly different numbers and claimed that 16,000 Gaza militiamen had been injured, half of whom were incapacitated and unable to return to the fight.
