Entering the month of Rajab, all Muslims are encouraged to do many pious deeds. One of the things that Prophet Muhammad SAW often does is fasting ayyamul bidh.
Compiled from the book Creative Dakwah: Muharram, Maulid Nabi, Rajab, and Sha’ban by Dra. Udji Asiyah, M.Si, the month of Rajab is one of the revered holy months. Allah SWT encourages His people to increase their pious deeds and avoid all kinds of prohibitions in Sharia in the form of immorality and others.
Therefore, fasting, almsgiving, slaughtering animals for alms, and other pious deeds are noble and recommended deeds. The fasts that mothers can do in this holy month are Monday and Thursday fasts, and Ayyamul Bidh.

Ayyamul Bidh fasting is a sunnah fasting that is done for three days every month. This is done on the 13th, 14th, and 15th of the Hijri calendar. As for the proof of its implementation narrated by Abu Darda RA, as the Prophet SAW said,
My friend advised me to do three things that I will not give up until I die: fasting three days of every month, the Duha prayer, and sleeping after the Witr prayer.
It means:
“My lover (Rasulullah SAW) advised me never to abandon three things during my life, namely fasting for three days every month, praying Dhuha, and that I should not sleep before performing the Witr prayer.” (HR Muslim)

Fasting intention of Ayyamul Bidh
I intended to fast the white days for the sake of God Almighty
Nawaitu shauma ayyâmil bîdl lilâhi ta’âlâ
It means:
“I intend to fast Ayyamul Bidl (days with bright nights), for the sake of Allah Ta’âlâ.”
Advantages of Ayyamul Bidh Fasting in the Month of Rajab
Quoting from the detikcom page, the importance of Ayyamul Bidh fasting itself is known to be very great. Carrying out this fast for three days is said to be equivalent to fasting for a month. Moreover, if you do it every month, the reward is equivalent to fasting for a whole year.
It is sufficient for you to fast three days every month, for for every good deed you will get ten times more, for that is fasting for an entire lifetime.
It means:
“Really, it is enough for you to fast for three days in every month, because you will receive tenfold for every good deed you do. Therefore, fasting ayyamul bidh is equal to fasting a whole year,” (HR Bukhari-Muslim).
Meanwhile, Ayyamul Bidh fasting in the month of Rajab also has many advantages. Moreover, this fasting schedule in the month of Rajab coincides with the main days, such as Thursday and Friday.
Muslims who fast on those days, will get a greater reward. The importance of fasting in the month of Rajab is explained by Imam Al-Ghazali in Ihyâ ‘Ulumiddîn (vol. 3, p. 431) who quotes the following two hadiths:
Fasting one day in a forbidden month is better than thirty days in another month, and fasting one day in Ramadan is better than thirty days in a forbidden month.
It means:
“One day of fasting in the forbidden months (Dzulqa’dah, Dzulhijjah, Muharram, and Rajab) is more important than fasting 30 days in other months. One day of fasting in the month of Ramadan is more important than 30 days of fasting in the forbidden month.”
Whoever fasts three days of the sacred month, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, God will reward him with nine hundred years of worship for each day
It means:
“Whoever fasts for three days in the haram month, Friday and Saturday, then Allah will reward each day with a reward equal to 900 years of worship.”
