Devi’s (20) eyes welled up as she recounted the heartbreaking fate that befell her. An accident three years ago robbed Devi of her youth. The fifth of seven siblings now only spends a little time doing independent therapy at his home located in Rumpin District, Bogor Regency, West Java.
At that time, Covid-19 was still ongoing. Students like him are really looking forward to being back face to face at school. But unfortunately, on the way home misfortune befell Devi and her friend. Devi’s motorbike was hit by a trontoon truck which almost took Devi’s life.
Devi remembers how painful it was when she was dragged under the tires of the trontoon truck for 15 meters. The asphalt on Jalan Cicangkal witnessed pelvic fractures, damage to the bladder canal and the destruction of Devi’s left thigh.

“Because it was already grazed first, it was the waist that was hit first. Even though the car driver was there, the car driver had already seen that Devi was still underneath. But maybe he had been grazed, afraid of being caught by the locals, he would have been stabbed,” said Devi from the wheelchair donated by the people. doctor.
Devi’s father held a demonstration for 3 days until the mining company took responsibility. However, with her condition not yet completely cured, Devi had to continue her own treatment. Because the tronton company that hit her could no longer pay Devi’s medical bills. Finally, his father proposed creating BPJS for him so he could be treated again. Even at that time, Devi’s family was tricked by individuals who took away their family’s money amounting to more than Rp. 35 million.
Devi’s misfortunes increased. One year after the incident occurred, Devi learned that her mother had died a week after Devi had an accident. Devi’s mother’s death was unknown and was deliberately kept secret so that Devi’s condition would not worsen.

Her family explained that Devi’s mother was experiencing stress due to Devi’s huge medical costs. Unfortunately, Devi found out about the news after reading the news about her accident on her cell phone.
“Every time Devi asked her mother where she had gone, she answered that she was sick. Mother was actually from Serang, she said she was being treated there first. The problem was that it hurt and she saw that there was a pen in Devi’s stomach. Well, when she took it out (the pen), where was it? There was no iron in Devi’s stomach anymore. “Why haven’t you met (mother)? After 1 year of starting to talk to each other, then I realized that mother wasn’t there,” he said sadly.
In fact, after a year and a half since the accident occurred, Devi’s third sister, who often took her for treatment, also followed her late mother. Devi’s sister died as a result of hitting a car that was stopped with its lights off on an incline. Due to the ongoing misfortunes, Devi’s father also shared his feelings.
“Seeing a child like this, I’m sad. It means sad, his mother died in the hospital. His brother was also hit by a car and died too, so sad. Why should the family be given the misfortune of a car crash? My little brother died and his stomach was broken, too. Two years old, “Well, this is (Devi). This is what her brother got for a year,” said Sumitra, Devi’s father.
Devi’s father is still fighting for his child’s recovery. Now he works odd jobs, relying on his friend’s invitation to collect materials. For each call he will be paid IDR 200-300 thousand. Every day Devi’s father goes to spend time meeting his friends to forget for a moment the problems that befell him.
“If we think too much about those who have had a disaster, I, who is healthy, will become sick. I’ve just run away to Allah Almighty, maybe it’s fate. That’s why I usually entertain myself with friends, what do I chat about, then it’s gone. But every time after sunset, I come home and come in “You can sleep at 9 o’clock in your room at 3 o’clock. That’s every day. The feeling (imagined) of the disaster is above the ceiling. Whether the wife dies, whether the child is crushed or the child dies.” Devi’s father said.
Devi has great hopes for a speedy recovery. He wants to be able to pee normally so he can focus on fasting in March. Devi also wants to be able to walk normally again.

“Hopefully, Devi will be able to walk. In fact, it’s okay to wait to be able to walk, the important thing is that her peeing will be normal again. Because she will be fasting soon, Devi wants to participate in (fasting) again. Thank God she can walk. So that Eid can see Mother, she can also see Brother. ,” said Devi.
