Suara.com – Presidential candidate number two Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia must become an independent country and be able to manage its wealth carefully.
He also reminded that the intentions of other nations are not always good because there are no eternal friends.
“I always remind you to be careful because competition between nations is cruel. Don’t think that other nations love us. There are no permanent friends and no permanent enemies, only permanent interests,” said Prabowo during a meeting with the Fellowship of Indonesian Churches (PGI) at Graha Eikumene, Newsdelivers.com, Friday (19/1/2024).
He continued, what is meant by permanent interest is the desire of a country to always meet the needs of its own nation. Therefore, Indonesia must be wise because its natural wealth has been desired by many other nations, since hundreds of years ago.
“The eternal interest is to want to live adequately for all nations, all ethnic groups, all countries, all human groups,” he said.
“And those who have wealth (to) enable a prosperous life include Indonesia. What don’t we have? That’s right,” he added.
If managed well, Indonesia can become the world’s food basket. Apart from that, there is great potential to create energy self-sufficiency through the use of green energy.
“Our energy will be green, not many countries can do it like us, we can get 100 percent green energy and 100 percent from within our own country,” said Prabowo.
He then gave the example that biodiesel is now partly processed from palm oil. When processed 100 percent, Indonesia is estimated to be able to save around 25 billion dollars per year.
“Now we can make B35 percent diesel from palm oil. I have talked to several experts, we can later make B100 (or) 100 percent diesel from palm oil,” he added.
“Right now, we are already saving approximately 10 billion dollars in foreign exchange from B35 each year. If we later move to B100, we can save 25 billion dollars each year,” said Prabowo.
