Suara.com – PT Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (HMMI) handed over certificates to three component suppliers. This certification is the culmination of the Research & Development (R&D) Supplier Education program, after suppliers successfully completed all competency improvement programs in their ability to design car components.
As the production center for Hyundai vehicles in the Southeast Asia (ASEAN) region, PT HMMI actively collaborates with local partners to share technology and improve the capabilities and competencies of suppliers. This activity is carried out through the Supplier Education educational series. After undergoing a series of programs since 2021, three suppliers were awarded certificates for achieving “Independent Design Capability.”
“As a global manufacturer, we want to develop sustainably, for this we need close collaboration with partners, including component suppliers. “Hyundai does this by always actively sharing technology to achieve excellence together with suppliers in Indonesia through comprehensive training programs,” said HMMI President Director Bong Kyu Lee, in a press release Wednesday (17/1/2023).
Certificates were given to PT Frina Lestari Nusantara, PT Auto Plastik Indonesia and PT Dasa Windu Agung, suppliers of components with Original Equipment Manufacture (OEM) quality standards.
The three of them are said to have proven that they have increased their competence by building research and development (R&D) facilities so that they are able to create designs independently.
This achievement is the first time in Indonesia. The three suppliers can create their own component designs to then supply to vehicle manufacturers. Consumers can see the results of the achievements of these three suppliers in the components attached to the exterior and interior of the Hyundai Stargazer
The R&D Supplier Education program has been run by HMMI since 2021 and has been an ongoing program that has been actively held since the start of operations in Indonesia.
Through systematic learning and in-depth training, no less than 63 suppliers were given advanced engineering knowledge and guided to improve their engineering quality.
“We hope that the achievements of these three suppliers can trigger the enthusiasm of other partners in Indonesia to reach the same level. “Of course, we also believe that by increasing the engineering capabilities of suppliers, they will experience greater benefits in terms of business and customer satisfaction,” added Bong Kyu Lee.
The success of the supplier empowerment initiative not only underlines Hyundai’s commitment to innovation but is also proof of the vast potential that can be leveraged within the supplier network in Indonesia.
