Suara.com – Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Nawawi Pomolango asked the three presidential and vice presidential candidates who will be elected to be selective in choosing KPK leaders.
The elected president, in approving the KPK leadership, is also expected to listen to critical notes from community groups.
Nawawi conveyed this in front of the three presidential and vice presidential candidates during the agenda of Strengthening Anti-Corruption for State Administrators with Integrity (Paku Integritas).
“We ask that the president commit to selecting and submitting to the House of Representatives (DPR) only capable candidates, who technically have high competence and proven integrity, the candidate’s track record, including information submitted by community groups,” said Nawawi.
According to Nawawi, the quality of the KPK leadership is largely determined by the role of the President.
“The president has an important role in the selection process for future leadership candidates and the KPK Supervisory Board,” he said.
Then regarding KPK coordination and supervision, Nawawi said it was still not running optimally.
“We would like to convey to this forum that the authority given by law to the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) as coordinator and supervisor for handling corruption cases is not or has not been implemented as it should,” he said.
“Even though we already have policies, rules and regulations as guidelines for carrying out these duties,” he continued.
Apart from that, the KPK’s communication with other law enforcement officials was also requested by the president-elect to facilitate this.

“More effective communication between the Corruption Eradication Committee and the Indonesian Prosecutor’s Office, the National Police, including the TNI should be facilitated by the president and vice president,” he said.
