AS Roma officially fired Jose Mourinho from the coaching chair. He conveyed this via the club’s official website, Tuesday (16/1/2024).
“AS Roma can confirm that Jose Mourinho and his coaching staff will be leaving the club immediately. We would like to thank José on behalf of all of us at AS Roma for his enthusiasm and efforts since his arrival at the club,” said club owner Dan Friedkin.
“We will always have fond memories of his tenure at Roma, but we believe immediate change is in the best interests of the club. We wish José and his assistants all the best in their future endeavours.”

There is no further information regarding who Mourinho’s replacement will be. However, Eurosport reports that Roma is approaching Daniele De Rossi, who now manages SPAL. It is known that talks will take place today.
Mourinho was announced as AS Roma’s 60th coach in May 2021. While managing the Giallorossi, he managed to win the Conference League trophy in Tirana on May 25 2022, and to the Europa League final in Budapest last season.
