Atrocities by Israeli Zionist forces continue to occur in Palestine, especially the Gaza Strip. Every day many lives are lost due to the heinous attacks launched by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip.
Mahmoud Wadi, the Palestinian national team striker, also felt deep sorrow. The reason is, ahead of the Palestinian national team’s match against Iran in the 2023 Asian Cup Group C match, Mahmoud Wadi received sad news that his cousin had died.
In his video interview on Reuters, Mahmoud Wadi revealed that his cousin, Abdullah Hassan Wadi, had died as a result of a brutal attack by the Israeli Zionist army in the Gaza Strip.
“My cousin was murdered today, I heard the news 30 minutes ago,” Mahmoud Wadi told Al Jazeera.
Of course, the sad news he received was very heartbreaking. Even so, Mahmoud Wadi admitted that he wanted to focus on the Asian Cup matches in order to prove to the world that Palestine deserves to be recognized.
“It’s difficult to explain what I feel now and how we feel, but now we have to focus on this championship,” said Mahmoud Wadi.
“Because we need this championship to do something for our family and the people in Palestine, to make them happy in the midst of a war situation. That’s what I feel now,” he continued.
Mahmoud Wadi feels that not all Palestinians can watch their national football team compete in the 2023 Asian Cup. This is because until now electricity and internet networks have been cut off in Palestine.
“I don’t think it can be watched by Palestinians because I have said it before, electricity and internet and communication are not available now, so I don’t think anyone can watch us. But our message will be conveyed there, God willing,” he concluded.
Mahmoud Wadi is a Palestinian national team player who comes from Gaza. One of the others is Mohammed Saleh who is a defender for the Palestinian national team.
