Suara.com – Presidential candidate number 3, Ganjar Pranowo, considers it very important to protect Indonesia’s maritime areas from crime, especially illegal fishing practices. If he is elected President, Ganjar is ready to sink foreign fishing vessels if they are still roaming in Indonesian waters.
Ganjar made this promise in front of fishermen at the office of the All Indonesian Fishermen’s Association or HNSI Cilacap, Tuesday (9/1/2024).
On that occasion, Ganjar initially spoke about the vastness of Indonesia’s maritime territory and about the potential income for fishermen and the tourism sector.

“Why is our maritime important? Firstly, our country is a maritime country. Our sea is wide, our culture of going to sea is extraordinary, the island has a lot of tourism and lots of fisheries,” explained Ganjar.
Regarding this, Ganjar also highlighted the issue of security in Indonesian maritime areas which must be guarded very strictly. Moreover, Ganjar does not want to be caught off guard by the actions of foreign ships that are still stealing fish in Indonesian waters. Therefore, Ganjar promised to sink foreign ships that dare to carry out illegal fishing.
“The vast sea must be protected, of course because we note that fisheries are also taken by people. There is something called illegal fishing, I agree with Mrs. Susi (former KKP Minister) first. (If) stealing is illegal, drown it!,” he said.
Ganjar also has a surefire technique that involves many people to strengthen the security system in Indonesian waters. According to him, security in the outermost areas must also be equipped with sophisticated equipment.

“Then there must be a force patrol. There are those from maritime affairs, from ministries, from the Indonesian Navy, from Polairud, various kinds of people who take care of it. “We put a lot of things together and we strengthen them so that we equip them with modern equipment,” he said.
Furthermore, the white-haired presidential candidate who is paired with vice presidential candidate Mahfud MD said that fishermen would also be free to earn income at sea if the security system in Indonesian waters was truly implemented.
“Make it safe first, once it is safe fishermen will start to be able to use their strength to utilize their resources,” he explained.
