Rexy Mainaky asked the host badminton players to remove the curse of becoming champions at the Malaysia Open 2024. According to him, it has been a long time since a player has stood proudly on the first podium.
Lee Chong Wei was the last badminton player from the host country to become champion at the 2018 Malaysia Open. After that, they always failed to win the title or even just enter the final.
This decline in performance has made the host badminton players work extra hard to end the curse of becoming champions at the Malaysia Open 2024. The tournament is scheduled to take place on 9-14 January 2024 at the Axiata Arena.
