Yakob Sayuri admitted that he felt he still had many shortcomings. He conveyed this after the Indonesian National Team lost 1-2 against Libya in the second test match at the Mardan Sports Complex, Friday (5/1/2024) evening WIB.
Yakob Sayuri brought the Indonesian National Team supporters joy after scoring a goal in the sixth minute. The PSM Makassar player fired a hard kick after receiving an assist from Ivar Jenner which put the Indonesian national team ahead 1-0.
However, Libya managed to comeback through goals from Mukhtar Al Shremi (10′) and Ahmed Ekrawa (20′). After the match, Yakob admitted that he was not satisfied with his performance even though he played very well.
Yakob feels that he still has many shortcomings, both in terms of defense and attack. “When it comes to my appearance, actually I still have a lot of shortcomings that I have to fix, whether in attack or defense,” said Yakob Sayuri after the Indonesia vs Libya national team match volume II in Antalya, quoted from a video received by MNC Portal Indonesia.
“I try to continue learning and will watch the video of the match again. What is good I will improve, and what is lacking I will try to focus on improving in practice,” he added.
Furthermore, Yakob Sayuri hopes that he can perform better and more consistently in the 2023 Asian Cup. “Hopefully in the Asian Cup match I can perform more consistently than in the previous match,” he hoped.
Before playing in the 2023 Asian Cup, the Indonesian national team will face Iran in the final test match on January 9 2024 in Qatar. After that, the Indonesian national team will perform in the 2023 Asian Cup which will be held in Qatar from 12 January to 10 February 2024
The Indonesian national team is in Group D with Japan, Iraq and Vietnam. In the first match, the Indonesian National Team will meet Iraq on Monday, January 15 2024. Then, the Indonesian National Team will face Vietnam on January 19 2024 and Japan on January 24 2024.
Later, only the group winner and group runner-up will have the right to automatically qualify for the round of 16.
